Alder Hey is now Europe's largest children's hospital. The heart unit treats 7,000 children a year as out-patients, and carries out 500 cardiac catheter procedures and 500 heart operations annually.
billyfury.com has adopted Alder Hey as its official charity, and has already raised more than £8,600 through concerts, memorabilia sales and individual donations.

The operational manager of the heart unit, Ms Mal Doran, wrote to billyfury.com:
"Many of us still remember Billy with great affection and believe we were robbed of a true star of Liverpool."
